Revd Canon Professor James Woodward

Principal, Sarum College

In October 2015, James was appointed to the role of Principal of Sarum College after seven years as Canon of St George's Chapel Windsor.

As a practical theologian James has focused particularly on areas of health and healing, old age, the practice of theological reflection, and end of life care. In 30 years of ministerial experience James has worked in a range of contexts, including health care chaplaincy and rural ministry, where he has consistently delivered sustainable growth and development in thinking and practice.

As a theological educator James has taught in the Universities of Birmingham, Warwick, and Cardiff; and in writing and delivering distance learning materials for part-time students through The Open University.

Publications

James has written extensively in the areas of practical and pastoral theology, spirituality, health care and ethics, illness, old age and end-of-life care and has recently completed a series of four books (with Paula Gooder and Mark Pryce) on the Gospels.
