Canon Chris Chivers

Principal of Westcott House, Cambridge

A graduate of both Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Chris has been a parish priest and area dean in London, a precentor at both St George’s Cathedral, Cape Town and Westminster Abbey, and canon chancellor of Blackburn Cathedral, where he set up the award-winning inter-religious institute, exChange, and employed the first Muslim dialogue development officer on the staff of a cathedral anywhere in the world.

He is the trustee of several major Anglican charities and the chair of USPG, the global Anglican mission agency. He is married with three children. 


A published poet and composer, he presents daily service regularly on BBC Radio 4, is a frequent contributor to newspapers and periodicals in the UK and also in South Africa, and the author of numerous books, the latest of which is Letters to Jonny (ISPCK 2016).
