Mr Andrew Barr

Freelancer in the media as a presenter, consultant and writer

Andrew has worked for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Radio Scotland and Premier Radio amongst others. He has been a Trustee of the MB Reckitt Trust, Chair of the Soul of Europe (a charitable Trust concerning reconciliation in Bosnia), a member of the Joint Liturgy Group of the UK, and a member of the Religion in the Media Monitoring Group for the General Synod of the Church of England. He is still a Council Member of the Religious Education Movement for Scotland.

Publications

Andrew was co-author of Jobs for the Boys (Hodder 2001), looking at the experiences of women who became priests in the Anglican Church. Other titles published include:

He contributed to the International directory, Christianity: A Complete Guide (Continuum 2005). His Out of the Deep anthology of resources for times of national grief was published in 2013 by CTBI.

His most recent project is a media presentation for Macmillan Nurses, working with his wife, Liz Barr.

He is currently writing End Board, an account of working in the BBC film department, describing the often hair-raising episodes behind the camera making some now-notorious documentaries. It describes an almost lost generation with whom he worked from the 1960s.
